Students who have shorter attention spans. Students who need reminders to stay on task. Students who need tasks broken into smaller chunks. Students who benefit from breaks.
iRelax $0.99 iPad&iPhone	Attention Focus Emotional Auditory Self Regulation	The user has a choice between various relaxing sounds to repeatedly play on their iPad or iPhone. Some of the choices are gentle waves, campfire, crickets, waterfall, brook, and forest birds. You can also program it to eventually fade out.	- Students who need to be able to tune out background noise - Students who need sensory breaks - Students who need to be calmed. - Whole class during quiet or writing time.
Readability FREE iPhone & iPad	Attention Organization Visual	Articles can be imported into this app from the internet. When they are brought into the app they are cleaned up so they are easier to read. The screen can be a white background with black printing or black background with white printing. Articles can be stored in the app. Font size can be changed as well.	-Students who have difficulty reading articles on the internet due to distractions on the side. Students who find the print and color visually difficult to see.
ZoomReader $19.99 iPhone	Visual Focus Auditory	With ZoomReader students can take a picture of a printed text with the camera. The app can magnify the print, read the print, adjust the background color,	- Students with visual impairments - Students who need text read aloud. - Students who need contrast in materials for focusing.
IF Poems $2.99 iPhone & iPad	Auditory Vocabulary retrieval Attention	This app has a large selection of poems that can be read to the reader, or the reader can record themselves reading the poems. Students can create their own poems and email them out. Words in the poems can be defined by the tap of a finger.	- Students who benefit from text to speech. - Students who don’t have a large vocabulary in their memory bank. - Students who enjoy hearing their own voice.
BOB Books 1 $1.99 BOB Books 2 $3.99 iPhone and iPad	Letter recognition Sound/letter recognition Attention	BOB Books allows students to make connections between letters and sounds. It will sound out simple words and spell the words, once the student has chosen the word. Animation in the app is great to gain students attention.	- Students with short attention spans - students who are beginner readers - students who are learning letter and sound relationships. - students who benefit from repetition.
ABC Phonics Rhyming Lite (FREE) Full Version $2.99 iPhone & iPad	Sound/letter recognition Auditory Attention	This app allows the user to identify three different ending sounds and then games are created for the user to identify rhyming words. When a word is selected, the word is read aloud. The user selects the two words that rhyme. There is a lot of repetition in this app.	- Students who need repetition - Students who are learning rhyming words - students who are auditory learners - great for differentiation of different ending sounds for rhyming.
Dictionary.com Flash Cards. FREE iPhone	Meaning Processor Recall Vocabulary Retrieval	This app allows users to create your own group of flash cards or use pre-existing ones. Flash cards are sorted in the app by subject, grade, popular, and standardized tests. On the flash card there is the term on one side and the definition on the other. The app sounds out the word, but does not read the definition. I am unsure if you can email the flashcards, but you can search for other decks.	- Students who do not have a large vocabulary memory bank. - Students who need assistance with pronunciation. - Students who are learning about a new topic.  - Students who benefit from study skills.
Sentence Builder $5.99 iPad & iPhone	Meaning Processor Sentence structure	This app can help students create grammatically correct sentences. It uses pictures, animations, and audio clips. Students can simply scroll through columns and choose words that make a sentence that is grammatically correct.	- Students who a beginning to learn about sentences. - Students who need assistance with creating sentences. -Students who need support with grammar. - Students who benefit from hearing their sentences read aloud.
Story Pals $24.99 iPad	Context Processor Comprehension Attention Focus	This app contains 24 different stories that can be read through text to speech with word highlighting. The user can also record them reading the stories, or create their own stories using animated illustrations. There are multiple choice quizzes and comprehension questions for each story.	- Students who benefit from text to speech. - Students who need visual prompts for writing. - Students who are working on comprehension skills. - Students who need a visual cue when listening to stories.
Evernote FREE iPhone & iPad	Gathering Information Organization Auditory	This app can be used to take pictures of written text or copy and paste text from the web. Users can leave voice memos or text notes on the app to use immediately or at a later time. This would be a great app for students to use as they are reading text with the purpose of gathering information.	- Students who have difficulty with fine motor skills. - Students who benefit from taking notes as they read - Students who have difficulty with organization.
